Prof. Dr. Şeref Kömürcü completed his medical education at Hacettepe University School of Medicine. Following his residency training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, he pursued a fellowship in the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Department of Medical Oncology, Palliative Medicine Program in the United States between 1997 and 1998.
In 1993 he was awarded the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification (USA), and in 1999 he obtained the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Medical Oncology Certificate (Europe). His academic career continued at Gülhane Medical Academy, Faculty of Medicine, from 1994 to 2011. He was promoted to Assoc. Prof. in 1999 and Prof. in 2008. He has over 30 years of experience in managing solid tumors and 17 years of experience in bone marrow transplantation.
Prof. Kömürcü is a member of several professional organizations, including the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the Turkish Society of Medical Oncology. He has over 110 papers published in journals. Since 2016, he has been working as a Medical Oncology Specialist at Anadolu Medical Center in Istanbul, Turkey.
